Kangan, Feb 26 (KNO): Continuing its sustained and proactive drive against illegal mining, Ganderbal Police have intensified action in the Kangan area, seizing four vehicles involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals.
An officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that during the course of action, police teams from Police Station Kangan seized three tractors and one tipper found transporting illegally extracted material from Nallah Sindh without mandatory permissions.
Acting swiftly and in close coordination with the Geology and Mining Department, the teams intercepted and seized the vehicles on the spot, thereby tightening the clampdown on unlawful mineral transportation across the district.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of SDPO Kangan and SHO Kangan, who, along with their team, were actively on the job during the drive.
Police officials stated that illegal extraction not only results in significant loss to the public exchequer but also poses a serious threat to the ecological balance of the region.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding natural resources, Ganderbal Police warned offenders to desist from illegal mining and transportation activities, stating that stringent legal action will continue against all those involved in unlawful extraction, transportation, or trade of minerals—(KNO)
